Hello. My name is newest_latest, A.K.A. cheo. I'm a filmmaker and inventor based in Austin, Texas.
I am inspired by rebellious innovators at the intersection of art and technolo gy. Specifically I am dedicated to the art of cinema and the technology of computers. My biggest influences include Elon Musk, Trent Reznor, Steve Jobs, Ye, Matt Johnson, Walt Disney, Leonardo DaVinci, Wes Anderson, David Fincher, James Cameron, Will Vinton, John Carmack, Linus Torvalds, and the Channel 4 Television show "The Mighty Boosh".
My work includes over 8 full length musical albums blending hip-hop, jazz, funk and electronic gemres under the name newest_latest. between 2020 and 2025, I produced a series of short films inspired by the autobiographical films of Agnes Varda and Van Neistat. I debuted the films in the historic Music Box Theatre, as part of a multi-media event combining my music and films, for a crowd of 100 people.
Since then I have been working onwriting and directing my first feature film called "BONESHAKER" and a companion soundtrack album titled "Lowriderz in Silicon Valley". The are set for realeas in late 2026.
In addition to my art, I've been venturing into the world of Software. In 2023 I made an Android app as a replica version of the "Swarmatron", an instrument popularized by Trent Reznor on film scores like "The Socal Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I'm currently exploring the world of video compression and artificial intelligence. In the future, I hope to join my art and technology to create goods and services via my production company, newest_latest LLC.
I am above all a tinkerer, inspired by what I consider to be the greatest art form there is: Cinema.
